Mexico's National Lottery exposed to a ransomware attack

Last Tuesday, Mexico's National Lottery reported through a statement the exposure of the institution to a cyber attack on its system, which was attended to and controlled immediately.

This after it was revealed that he suffered a ransomware attack, allegedly caused by the Avaddon gang.

It is presumed that the attackers had documents from the institution, including contracts, financial reports ranging from 2009-2021.

The institution reported in a document that more than two weeks ago it was detected "a theft of information in the administrative area (previously Forecasts) by criminals operating internationally."

He added that upon learning of this situation, necessary measures were taken and the Cyber ​​Police were notified, additionally advising and supporting the Coordination of National Digital Strategy (CEDN) of the Presidency of the Republic.

The latest information reported that the National Lottery started the management of a computer systems modernization program and that it has information support in all areas.

Finally, he also notified that the contests and raffles operate normally and that the prize payments are guaranteed.
